what is wind weekend?
There are never enough fun, affordable and educational activities for families. Wind Weekend is BWEA’s free annual event for all the family.

To most people, wind farms are something to be admired as they drive past on their way to the zoo, theme park or grandparents' house. They might recognise them as a good source of renewable energy - but a good day out?

In fact, the UK's wind farms have lots to offer a family in search of a stop-off or a day trip.

In 2005, we opened five wind farms. In 2006 we opened ten. We took a year off last year and are back this year bigger and better than ever. Wind Weekend 2008 will see around 20 wind farms open their gates.

In the past, developers have provided entertainment in the form of musicians, face-painters, magicians, science shows, kite making and flying, pony rides, fact-finding tours, environmental entertainers and bouncy castles.
